From the Co-Chairs

WELCOME TO THE APA CALIFORNIA 2019 CONFERENCE

From September 15-18, 2019, California APA and the Central Coast Section welcome you to Santa Barbara for the California APA Conference, which will be held at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. We anticipate a variety of professionals to participate, from private and public sector planners, management, various elected officials, decision makers, and interested members of the public. With the theme A Resilient Future, the conference involves tackling pressing and relevant local and statewide issues, including climate change, housing, energy, transportation, diversity, sea level rise, sustainability, economy, disaster, and recovery.

On behalf of the entire conference host committee, we hope you enjoy exploring Santa Barbara's beachfront and other attractions while you are here. We are thrilled to be hosting the APA California Conference Opening Reception on September 15, 2019 at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, which is an iconic Santa Barbara landmark. Make sure to climb to the top of the clock tower for a panoramic view of Santa Barbara while you are at the conference.

Filled with particular significance to the Central Coast, as with many communities throughout California, resiliency at its core is defined as maintaining, improving, and responding to what exists in our communities. At the same time, resiliency means something different to each of us. We look forward to sparking dialogue, creating partnerships, providing network opportunities, and participating in engaging discussion for what A Resilient Future means in your community and across California during the conference. We welcome you to APA California 2019 and will see you in Santa Barbara in September!

Sincerely,

Your APA California 2019 Co-Chairs
